hello everyone!!!!!!!!
just for a little update. i am currently living in new york city for 3 months working for the Audubon mag and Domino mag as well. I am so happy that melissa's path and mine have crossed again and i am very thankful that she is here because we see eachother almost everyday and say goodnight through text messages. :) plus there is a huge network of family, mississippi, and scad people as well in this place.
it has snowed once since i have been here and i really need to purchase snow boots before the real winter starts up here(warm..today high of 56) well i am still alive and making it through this dark world. i love you all and i hope that you will see someone smiling today because i saw these two elderly men laughing till tears came to their eyes this morning while i was drinking my coffee and it was beautiful:)

take care and this will again be a lonely post for the next couple of months.

Visiting the Recontre in Arles allowed me to feel an array of emotions throughout the day and and it was exhausting.  (Recontre-world renowed photography exhibit)  I walked through numerous galleries listening to sufjan and gazing at the images.  I found myself literally crying while I stood infront of the photos by Simon Norfolk.  The artist acheived what he wanted, allowing the viewer not to just smile and walk on and say to yourself, "oh that is a pretty picture", but to stop and actaully feel emotion from the picture and question myself and what is within me.   Debbie Flemming Caffery approached Julia and I and asked of we were a part of the SCAD photo students.  (Ah this women whom won the 2005 Guggenheim Award for photography) is interested in us and was telling us how excited she is to be working with the scad group in Lacoste this coming week.  wow, more like we are thrilled to be learning from her.

Later in the afternoon Julia and I went to Sarah Moon's exhibit.  Once you walked into the building the mood instantly changed from the fast pace of the street outside.  Her entire exhibit was lit by natural light which streamed in from large windows.  The light background classical music literally carried me through the show.  The printing style and the content of her images were somewhat dreamlike.

I miss everyone and I hope things are well.

love,

marcie

So it has been awhile since I have written on this thing.  Just for an update this past year at scad was amazing.  the lord blessed me with a wonderful year of friends, challenging classes, life changing experiences, and really just learning more about who i am as a person....i really just keep figuring things out more and sometimes i do not like it.  ooooh but hey that is why i am so happy that i do not have to go through this alone.  thank you for friends this past school year that prayed for me throughout this new chapter of my life and believe me it changes so much with every quarter.  new people that the lord brings into my life, places i am able to visit, and difficult times as well.   when school ended i went back to the lovely town of oxford.  my first night back i was able to sit in the grove while the sun was setting and hear great blues.  the guitarist of r.l. burnside performed and i did not realise how much i missed times like that before.  i was able to  see fab people in my life such as kat, barbara, maggie, ashley, laura and her man alex, before i left for france.  oh i got to see iron and wine at proud larry's with courtney and the show was pleasent a little crowded but really great.  After 4 days in oxford i went on an alaskan cruise with my family that i love and miss so much.  we met up with family friends in seattle and made our way to glacier bay, juneau, ketchican, and victoria.  i was able to go hiking through a rainforest, canoeing, kayaking in a chanel with a view of mountains and one huge galcier, bum around and find neat ind. coffee shops in port towns, hang out with the group of 38 people that i have not seen in four years.  it was beautiful but i found out that i am not much of cruise person.  i felt trapped in the boat and i really enjoyed the port excursions and being able to explore the places.  after the cruise i was in town for only four days. ashley came for two of those and it was special seeing her after being away for 3 months.  much friend time needed :)   right now i am in beautiful village of lacoste in the provence area.  i am so excited and just trying to see the beauty in everything around me; the people, food, the countryside, the architecture, and the slow pace of this village.  It is ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PLACES I HAVE EVER BEEN!!!! and to top it off there is a high-tech coffee machine in the kitchen.  i have 10 selections of various varities of coffee.  everyone knows how i heart coffee :)  i get to to have all the cafe my little heart desires.  i want to let everyone know that i love them.  i truly do and how it is blessing for each person the lord brings into my life.  the topics we converse over, the experiences we share, the laughter, and even tears.  how i take that for granted.  but to all of you i will give you updates and hopefully it will not be another 5 months.

love,

marcie

"Laden with guilt and full of fears,

I fly to Thee, my Lord,

And not a glipmse of hope appears,

 But in thy written Word

The Volumes of my Father's grace

Does all my griefs assuage

Here I behold my Savior's face

In every page."

- Isaac Watts

we sang this song at ruf last wed.night.  and i want to share with you words which brings me peace.
